It Came from Sweden...and it's Opeth!
2010 looks to be a big year for the mighty Opeth. In addition to working on their followup to acclaimed 2008 release Watershed, the progressive death metal band will be celebrating their 20th anniversary with a series of six concerts.
Here's the dates:
March 30: Cirkus – Stockholm, Sweden
April 1: Lichtburg – Essen, Germany
April 3 – Bataclan – Paris, France
April 5: Royal Albert Hall – London, UK
April 7: Terminal 5 – New York, NY
April 9: The Wiltern – Los Angeles, CA
According to our comrades over at MetalSucks, main man Mikael Ã…kerfeldt is planning on extensive rehearsals for these shows, which should cover choice cuts from the awesome Opeth back catalogue. Considering that Opeth are already a great live band, these shows should be killer.
If that's not enough Opeth for you (and too much is never enough) the band has just re-released their first three albums (Orchid, My Arms Your Hearse and Still Life) as The Candlelight Years.
